Falk Huettmann Ph.D

Falk is a Wildlife Ecologist working on spatial modeling of global biodiversity and ecosystems using large databases. His work is explicit in space and time, and looks closely at the global effects of the economy. He has a deep background in field ecology and computing worldwide, and works on terrestrial, marine, coastal and mountain sustainability questions. His recent work deals with the Protection of the Poles, as well as with Avian Influenza, Papua New Guinea, the Himalayas and Russian Far East. Falk has published over 100 publications, 3 books, many digital online data sets (including ISO metadata) and serves in several committees, boards and professional societies. He supervises graduate students at the University of Alaska and elsewhere, and currently teaches EcoInformatics, Landscape Ecology, Wildlife Techniques, Predictive Modeling and field schools abroad.
