Adele Cutler was born in England and grew up in New Zealand. She received a BSc Hons (1st class) in Mathematics from the University of Auckland in 1983 and an MS (1984) and PhD (1988) in Statistics from U.C. Berkeley, with Leo Breiman as her dissertation advisor. She has been on the faculty at Utah State University since 1988, where she is currently a Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.
Dr. Cutler collaborated with Leo Breiman on several different projects, including their close collaboration on Random Forests from 2000 until his death. Dr Cutler has given eight invited presentations on Random Forests and was co-PI with Leo Breiman on a three-year NSF ITR grant from 2001 to 2004. Her other research interests include archetypal analysis, finite mixture models, minimum distance estimation, the EM algorithm and microarray analysis.
